Master's abroad from Bangladesh: a month-by-month plan for the 2027-28 intake
A practical timeline for applying to a master's degree abroad from Bangladesh: when to choose courses, take the English test, apply for scholarships and start the visa, with the 2026 deadlines that matter.

If you want to start a master's abroad in autumn 2027, the work starts about a year earlier. This plan is a general timeline, not a promise: every university and scholarship sets its own dates and rules, so treat the months below as a guide and check each official page. Last checked: 22 October 2026.
The plan, month by month
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Now to November 2026 | Shortlist 5 to 8 courses. For each, write down the application deadline, language rule, fees and any funding. Book your English test. |
| November 2026 to January 2027 | Write your statement of purpose, ask referees, and order transcripts and certificates. Most Erasmus Mundus joint master's programmes take applications between October and January. |
| January to March 2027 | Submit university applications. Apply for scholarships whose windows fall here: the Joint Japan/World Bank windows were reported as 18 January to 26 February 2027 (confirm on the official site). Australia Awards is due to reopen in early 2027. |
| March to June 2027 | Prepare for interviews. For reference, the 2027/28 Chevening round has interviews in March to April and results from mid-June; later cycles may follow a similar pattern. |
| June to September 2027 | Accept an offer, prove your funds, and start the visa. Allow time: processing can be slow. |
Choosing where to apply
- Check the funding before the course. A course with a scholarship you qualify for is often a better choice than a famous one you cannot pay for. Our scholarship status page shows which deadlines have passed.
- Check the visa climate for the country. Rules changed in 2026. Australia has moved Bangladesh to its highest-risk category and reportedly raised its English and savings requirements. Read what changed in Australia, the US, the UK and Canada.
- Look at the programme, not the ranking alone. Teaching style, research fit and the job market after graduation matter more for most students.
Documents most applications ask for
- Academic transcripts and degree certificates, often with a certified translation.
- Passport and a recent photo.
- English test result, where the course requires one.
- Statement of purpose that is specific to the course.
- Two or three references from teachers or managers.
- CV, and proof of work experience if a scholarship needs it.
- Proof of funds for the visa.
Mistakes to avoid
- Sending one generic statement to every university.
- Missing the deadline by assuming the time zone is Bangladesh time.
- Paying an agent for a "guaranteed" scholarship or visa. Nobody can guarantee either.
- Leaving the visa to the last month.
